Cross Country Competes at NCAA Midwest Regional

EVANSVILLE, Indiana - The Ohio Dominican Panthers men's and women's cross country teams ended their 2023 season at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday (Nov. 4) afternoon. 

The men finished 27th of 32 teams for the 10K race at Angel Mounds while the women were 29th of 32 teams in the 6K race. ODU's men averaged 34:49.57 per runner in the race with the women averaging 24:34.58 per runner for their race. Overall, five runners reached top ten program all-time times for the team. 

MEN

Senior Ethan Sinning (Tipp City, Ohio) finished with the fifth fastest time in the program's history, crossing the finish line at 33:28.82 as he was the top finisher in 113th place. His classmate Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) was second on the team at 34:12.05. Krous now sits seventh all-time in the 10K as he was in 146th place. Junior Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) also broke into the top 10 for the 10K within the program. His time of 34:17.84 was the ninth fastest mark at ODU. He was in 151st place and third on the team. Freshman Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) made his regional debut in the 10K as the fourth fastest runner for the Panthers. He clocked in at 35:14.34 in 172nd place overall. Freshman Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) ran a 36:54.8 time for his first shot at the 10K distance, finishing in fifth for ODU and 192nd overall. Sophomore Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) finished out the Panthers lineup at 38:17.79 for the longest distance of the season.


WOMEN
Junior Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) cracked the top ten for the program record books as she ran the 6K course in 23:46.54. Her time was the sixth fastest in the program and was the best time for the Panthers (153rd place). Freshman Kaelin Pfeifer (Washington Court House, Ohio) slotted tenth all-time with a 23:55.79 as she was second for the Black and Gold and one position behind Henry (154th place). Senior Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) hit a personal best as she stopped the clock at 24:14.15 in 167th place (3rd on the team). Her sister Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) ran a season-best 25:08.66 for fourth place on the Panthers. Freshmen Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) and Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) both had their debuts at the regional level and had respective times of 25:47.79 (season-best) and 27:08.18.
