COLUMBUS, Ohio - In their final game before Great Midwest play opens next week, the Ohio Dominican Panthers men's basketball team will host the Wilberforce Bulldogs on Wednesday (Nov. 22) afternoon at Alumni Hall.
Ohio Dominican and Wilberforce will tip off at 3:00 PM in the Division II version of "Feast Week."
OPENING TIPOFF
- Ohio Dominican are 0-3 overall following an 85-80 loss at Davis & Elkins last Wednesday.
- Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) scored a career-high 24 points in his third career game. The freshman made seven-of-17 shots from the floor with him making three triples. He was a perfect seven-of-seven at the free throw line. He had a team-high four steals. He is averaging 14.3 PPG with a team-high seven three pointers.
- Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) was on triple-double watch as he totaled 14 points (career-high), seven rebounds and seven assists. Ruth, in his first three games of his college career, averages 10.0 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 4.7 APG.
- Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan), in 16 minutes, scored ten points with a pair of threes off the bench for his collegiate debut at Davis & Elkins last week.
- JeJuan Weatherspoon (Columbus, Ohio) is the leading scorer for the Panthers with 18.0 points per game with a team-high 17 field goals. After nine points and five rebounds at D&E, he is grabbing 7.0 rebounds per game with 3.0 assists per contest.
- Caleb Brooks (Florence, Kentucky) (9.7 PPG, 3.3 RPG), Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) (7.3 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 1.7 APG) and Zac Kimball (Sydney, Australia) (7.7 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.7 APG) all have assisted in the early going with Kimball and Webb starting all three games. All three players have shot over .500 from the floor. Kimball and Webb have made nine-of-15 field goals (.600) while Brooks is at .500 (10-of-20).
- In the Division II era (2010-present), the Bulldogs and the Panthers have met two times in the last two seasons - both in Columbus. ODU was victorious in their home opener last season 81-73. Dating back to 2008, the series is 4-0 in favor of ODU.
- As a team, Ohio Dominican is averaging 29.7 points in the first half before scoring 45.7 points in the second half.
- Ohio Dominican is leading the G-MAC with 7.7 turnovers per game (23 total), sixth in Division II. They also lead the conference with a 1.87 A/TO ratio (8th in D2). Tiffin has the best turnover margin (+4.25) with ODU in 2nd with a +3.33 margin.
- The Panthers are second in the G-MAC with a 77.2% free throw percentage. ODU was 21-of-24 at the line at Davis & Elkins (87.5%).
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
- Wilberforce is 4-7 overall this season. After a 3-1 start, the Bulldogs have gone 1-6 in the last seven games. In the last seven days, the team has gone 1-3.
- In their last game on Monday, Wilberforce was defeated 113-89 at Kentucky State. Five players were in double-figures, led by Germaine Marshall with 18 points. Josiah Mobley (17 pts.), Jamir Hymes (15 pts.), Kyle Cardenas (14 pts.) and Cali Davis (11 pts.) all joined the effort.
- Against NCAA teams, Wilberforce is 1-2 with an OT win over Central State (103-101).
- Cali Davis was named Continental Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 19.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals through nine games. Overall, he leads the Bulldogs with 19.2 points per game.
- Kyle Cardenas (13.0 PPG), Germaine Marshall (11.5 PPG) and Kaleb Mitchell (10.3 PPG) are all in double-figures for the Bulldogs.
- The Bulldogs are scoring 86.8 points per game while allowing 100.6 PPG with six straight games of over 100 points allowed.
