ELKINS, W. Va. - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (0-3) men's basketball team had a great showing by a number of the newcomers in a non-conference matchup with the Davis & Elkins Senators (2-1) on Wednesday (Nov. 15) night. 

The Panthers were defeated 85-80 on the road at the McDonnell Center. 

BOX SCORE NOTES

• Sean McKitrick (Dayton, Ohio) scored a career-high 24 points in his third career game. The freshman made seven-of-17 shots from the floor with him making three triples. He was a perfect seven-of-seven at the free throw line. He had a team-high four steals. 
• Luke Ruth (Grove City, Ohio) was on triple-double watch as he totaled 14 points (career-high), seven rebounds and seven assists. He hit four shots with six free throws of seven attempts. 
• Parker Swartz (Grand Rapids, Michigan) entered the chat with his collegiate debut. In 16 minutes, he scored ten points with a pair of threes off the bench. 
• JeJuan Weatherspoon (Columbus, Ohio) tallied nine points on a perfect five-of-five at the charity stripe.
• Zac Kimball (Sydney, Australia) ended with a team-high seven rebounds (tied with Ruth), including three offensive boards.  
• Caleb Brooks (Florence, Kentucky) scored eight points while Nate Webb (Lafayette, Indiana) added seven points in his third start. 
• Ohio Dominican ended the contest with a 42.6% field goal percentage and 35% from three point land. The Panthers converted 21-of-24 free throws for a 87.5% clip. 
  • Davis & Elkins shot 45.3% overall with 39.3% from three and 80% at the free throw line. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Davis & Elkins led for the first ten minutes, leading by as many as five points three times. After trailing 10-5, ODU scored five straight points off two McKitrick free throws and a three-point play from Weatherspoon to tie the game at ten. 
• The Panthers took the lead twice in the first half on threes from Swartz (17-16) and Webb (22-21). 
• Davis & Elkins led 36-32 at the halftime break as McKitrick scored 11 points with Swartz adding seven in the opening 20 minutes. 
• The Senators gained a seven point lead at 41-34 before ODU went on an 13-4 run over the next three minutes. Brooks scored six points and McKitrick added a three as ODU took the lead 47-45 with 15:49 left.
• Both teams exchanged the lead three times with four ties before the game was tied ultimately at 58-all with 9:23 left in the game.  
• Davis & Elkins took a ten-point lead with a 13-3 run at the seven minute mark. 
• The Senators led got to 80-71 before ODU made one last push with a 9-3 rally. Kimball made a three, McKitrick scored four points while Ruth made two free throws. After ODU got within 83-80, D&E got a final pair of free throws to finish off an 85-80 victory.
