ASHLAND, Ohio – On Tuesday evening, the Ohio Dominican volleyball team faced the #2 Ashland University Eagles in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The Black and Gold took control the entire game, sweeping the Purple and Gold to advance to the Semifinals on Friday.

- Leading the way for the Panthers was Ashley Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) with 14 kills, hitting .345. Following her was Jenna Peters (Vermilion, Ohio) with 12 kills and Lauren Lucas (Grove City, Ohio) with nine kills. Lucas added 11 digs.
- In the back row, Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) recorded 21 digs on the night. The senior grabbed three assists and a service ace. Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) recorded eight digs and a service ace.
- Sophomore Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) became the 15th player in program history to collect 1,000 career assists with her 21 in tonight's match. Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) followed with 20 assists. Avery netted two service aces and six digs.
How It Happened
- The Black and Gold opened the first set with back-to-back kills from Ashley Chmielewski (Roscommon, Mich.). The Panthers then extended their lead to 6-4 before the Eagles responded with a strong offensive push, taking the lead 10-8. ODU grabbed five consecutive points to go ahead three-points. The two traded points, each going on a run, with Ohio Dominican having the edge, winning the set 25-23.
- Once again, the Panthers snagged the first two points before going point for point for most of the set. The Black and Gold pulled away, taking a six-point lead. AU rallied late, coming within one before tying it at 24-all. In extra points, the two went back and forth with ODU coming out on top, 29-27, to go ahead 2-0 in sets.
- In the third set, Ohio Dominican took a 4-0 lead. The Black and Gold extended their lead to 14-7 with a four-point run. The Panthers remained in front, ending the set on a 5-2 run and three consecutive kills to win the match.
Up Next
Ohio Dominican will advance to the G-MAC Semifinals for the second time since joining the conference in 2017. The Panthers fell to Ashland, 3-1, in the Semifinals during the fall of 2021 season. ODU will face Tiffin on Friday in Hillsdale.
