ROMEOVILLE, Illinois - In the final meet before the 2023 Great Midwest Cross Country Championships in two weeks, the Ohio Dominican Panthers cross country team traveled to battle a number of G-MAC and Midwest region teams at the Lewis Crossover on Saturday (Oct. 7) afternoon.
ODU continued to improve this season as a number of Panthers solidified their spots in the program's top ten listings. Three men's runners set top ten times in the 8K, including two times in the top five. Six personal records were set in total for the Panthers.
MEN
Senior
Ethan Sinning (Tipp City, Ohio) now holds the second quickest time for the Panthers after he timed out at 26:01.8 as ODU's top runner. He has been the leading runner for the Panthers in three of five races this year. Sophomore
Merrick Shorter (Dublin, Ohio) was about five seconds behind Sinning (26:06.0) and is the fourth fastest time in the program's history. Junior
Eayuel Gebrtsadik (Columbus, Ohio) set a personal record of his own at 26:11.3, slotting in the seventh fastest 8K time for ODU. Senior
Jacob Krous (Galena, Ohio) shaved four tenths of his best time and clocked in at 26:46.3 overall. Freshman
Aidan Shannon (Columbus, Ohio) was fifth for the Panthers with his second best time of his opening campaign, a 27:15.4. Freshman
Rogan Hanson (Craig, Alaska) cracked a sub-28 minute time with a PR of 27:48.3. Sophomore
Edward Devaney (Lexington, Ohio) ended the race with a final time of 30:07.0.
WOMEN
Junior
Kylee Henry (Circleville, Ohio) ended the race as the top runner for the Black and Gold in the 6K. Henry ran the race in 24:38.5 for her third best time of the season. Freshman
Kaelin Pfeifer (Washington Court House, Ohio) knocked five seconds for a PR of 24:44.8 in second place for the Panthers. Seniors
Jeralyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) and
Jaclyn Strawn (Lancaster, Ohio) finished back-to-back with 6K times of 25:50.6 and 26:13.8, respectively. Freshman
Anna Blackstone (Lexington, Ohio) was fifth for the Panthers with a 26:25.5 time. Freshmen
Gabby Reed (Pickerington, Ohio) and
Alyza Camp (Waynesville, Ohio) crossed the line about a minute apart as Reed had a time of 26:59.9 and Camp was 27:56.4. Freshman
Morgan MacDonald (Oregon, Ohio) rounded out the field at 28:31.4.
The Panthers will prep for the 2023 Great Midwest Cross Country Championships in Canton, Ohio in two weeks on October 21st.
