Volleyball Completes Homecoming Sweep In 3-0 Victory Over Arrows

COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Saturday evening, the Ohio Dominican volleyball team host the Arrows of Ursuline College to wrap up Homecoming weekend. The Panthers extended their win streak to four with a 3-0 sweep of the Arrows.

  • ODU outhit CU 36 kills to 19 and recorded a .286 hitting percentage compared to Ursuline's -.044 hitting percentage.
  • For the second night in a row, Jenna Peters (Vermilion, Ohio) leads the way for the Black and Gold with 11 digs. Following her was Lauren Lucas (Grove City, Ohio) with nine kills and Ashley Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) with seven.
  • At the net, Aselage and Grace Zinchuk (Schaumburg, Ill.) recorded a team high of three block assists a piece.
  • On defense, senior Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) grabbed another double figure dig game with 18 tonight. Shoup grabbed four service aces and two assists. Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) and Lauren Dinunzi (Louisville, Ky.) each added six digs.
  • Avery netted a team high of 15 assists with Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) recording 14 assists.
How It Happened
  • In the opening set, ODU quickly gained the momentum with a 6-2 lead. The lead over the Arrows grew to 13-3 after several errors and two service aces from Kirker. The Panthers added a six-point run late, making it 22-7, before winning the first set 25-9.
  • Once again, the Black and Gold found themselves in front 9-3 in the second set. Ursuline grabbed a three-point swing to come within four, making it 13-9. The two traded points with Ohio Dominican winning five of the last seven points, winning the set 25-18, taking a 2-0 lead.
  • Much of the same happened in the third set with the Panthers running to a 9-3 lead. ODU led as many as nine points before ending the set on an 8-3 run, taking it 25-13, completing the sweep.
