The Black And Gold Fall Short In Tiffin

Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio – On Tuesday evening, the Ohio Dominican volleyball team wrapped up their seven-game road stint at Tiffin University. The Dragons defeated the Panthers, 3-1.

Box Score Notes
  • Leading the way for the Black and Gold was Ashley Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) with 13 kills on the night. She added four total blocks, three solo. Joining her in double-figures was Jenna Peters (Vermilion, Ohio) with 11 kills.
  • Senior Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) once again recorded 25 digs in the four sets. Fellow senior, Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) netted 12 digs and two service aces.
  • Sophomores Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) and Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) each added double-digit assists. Avery led with 19 and Kirker followed with 18. Kiker also accounted for two service aces.
How It Happened
  • In the opening set, the two went point-for-point before the Panthers broke out on a four to one run, making it 11-8. The Dragons tied it up at 11-all with ODU once again adding five consecutive points to make it 16-11. The two continued to trade points the rest of the set, with TU ending on a five-point run, winning it 25-20.
  • Tiffin ran out to an early 8-3 lead in the second set. The Black and Gold rallied to tie it at 13-all after multiple errors from the Dragons. The Green and Gold continued to push, going on an eight to one run to take set two, 25-18.
  • Roles were reversed in the third set with ODU opening with an 8-3 lead over TU. The Dragons answered, eventually taking the lead 15-12. Kills from Peters and Grace Zinchuk (Schaumburg, Ill.) put Ohio Dominican in the lead, 21-18. The Panthers won the last four points to win the set 25-20, making it 2-1.
  • Similar to the second set, Tiffin opened with a 10-5 lead in the fourth set. The Dragons extended their lead to as many as nine, making it 20-11. The Black and Gold rallied late, going on a six to one run to make it 24-20, but lost the final point and the match.
