FINDLAY, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers (4-5, 3-4 G-MAC) battled the Findlay Oilers (7-2, 6-1 G-MAC) in a Great Midwest contest on the road on Saturday (Oct. 28).
Ohio Dominican had their three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Oilers in a 24-3 loss.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Jake Byrd (Fort Wayne, Indiana) ended with 56 passing yards on 11 completions. Drew Gallehue (Edon, Ohio) added 20 yards on one completion.
- Jayden Cornell (Kenton, Ohio) led the Panthers with four catches for 36 yards.
- Ty Wiley (Pickerington, Ohio) added two catches, totaling 24 yards. Wiley was the recipient of the 20-yard completion from Gallehue in the fourth quarter.
- AJ Young (Lexington, Ohio) kicked his first career field goal in the third quarter, a 33-yard attempt.
- Brady Blattner (Cumberland, Ohio) led the Panthers with a career-high 14 tackles, including 11 solo stops. He added three tackles for loss as well.
- Daishaun Hill (Rocky River, Ohio) and Jayden Hill (Gahanna, Ohio) both had eight tackles in the game,
- Eddie Miller-Garrett (Newark, New Jersey) made five tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss on the day. EMG forced a fumble while tallying 1.5 sacks in the game.
- Miller-Garrett became the Ohio Dominican single season leader in both sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (20.5).
- Also, Miller-Garrett jumped Jaylin Garner for the all-time tackles for loss record with 49.5 TFL. He is now two sacks behind Garner in the sack category.
- Madison Norris (Indianapolis, Indiana) joined Miller-Garrett on a sack (0.5) and recovered the EMG forced fumble.
- Logan Ortt (New Philadelphia, Ohio) punted eight times for 384 yards. He averaged 48.0 yards per kick with a long punt of 59 yards. He had three punts inside the 20-yard line with two downed inside the five-yard line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Findlay took a 3-0 lead on a 40-yard field goal with 6:16 left in the first quarter. That lead remained until the middle of the second quarter.
- Early in the second quarter, Miller-Garrett and Norris combined on a sack that earned Miller-Garrett the sack title for the season.
- Following an ODU interception, Findlay answered with a four-yard touchdown run with 2:24 left in the half to make the game 10-0. The Oilers added another touchdown late in the second quarter on a one-yard pass. The score was 17-0 at the halftime break.
- On Findlay's second drive of the third quarter, Miller-Garrett got a strip sack with Norris recovering the fumble to give Ohio Dominican a short field.
- Young connected on a 33-yard field goal with seven minutes left in the third quarter as Ohio Dominican trailed 17-3.
- Findlay capped the scoring with a seven-yard touchdown pass at the end of the third quarter, winning 24-3.
