COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team caps their seven-game road stint with a Saturday trip to Ashland University and a Tuesday night drive to Tiffin University.
About Ohio Dominican
The Black and Gold are 10-11 overall and an even 6-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after going 0-2 last weekend with a 3-1 loss at Northwood and falling 3-0 at Hillsdale. The Panthers sit at third in the South Division and seventh overall.
Senior libero,
Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) has recorded double-figure digs in all 21 games this fall. She most recently notched 23 at Northwood and 12 at Hillsdale to bring her season total to 386, third most in the conference, and an average of 4.34 digs per set. Shoup has a career total of 1,506 digs, ranking eighth in the Ohio Dominican All-Time record book.
Junior
Lauren Lucas (Grove City, Ohio) netted 21 kills over the weekend with 14 at Northwood and seven at Hillsdale. Lucas has a season total of 255 kills with an average of 2.93 kills per set. The outside hitter also averages 2.09 digs per set as she has recorded 10 double-double this season.
Hitters
Jenna Peters (Vermilion, Ohio) and
Ashely Aselage (Tipp City, Ohio) join Lucas with over 200 kills this season. Peters sits at 232 kills with Aselage tallying 225 kills. Peters averages 2.67 kills per set and Aselage averages 2.56 kills per set.
Sophomores
Saige Avery (Yorkville, Ill.) and
Gabrielle Kirker (Tallmadge, Ohio) are on the way to 500 assists this season. Avery currently has 422 assists with Kirker right behind her with 398 assists. The lefty averages 4.74 assists per set as the right hander averages 5.04 assists per set. Avery also leads the team with 34 service aces, followed by senior
Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) with 32.
About Ashland
The Eagles are 18-7 overall with an 11-2 mark in the conference, placing them in first place in the South Division and second overall. The Purple and Gold are coming off of back-to-back five set wins at Northwood and against Cedarville.
Leading the way for AU is Makenna Belcher with 327 kills, an average of 3.34 kills per set, the fifth best in the G-MAC. Belcher has recorded double-digit kills in 19 contests so far. Following her is Henlie Krause with 223 kills, an average of 2.35 kills per set.
With 463 digs, the most of any player in the conference, is libero Katie Thompson. Thompson averages 4.72 digs per set, the fourth best average in the G-MAC. The libero has registered double-figure digs in 21 of the 25 contests this fall. Setter, Kylee Urban averages 5.67 assists per set with a season total of 556 assists.
In the first meeting in September, the Eagles survived the Panthers in a close five sets. Ashland is now 14-1 against Ohio Dominican and are on a seven game winning streak against the Black and Gold.
About Tiffin
The Dragons are 11-12 on the season and 5-7 in the G-MAC, sitting at fifth in the South Division and ninth overall. The Dragons fell to Thomas More, 3-1 on Tuesday and host Cedarville and Thomas more again before facing the Panthers next Tuesday.
Leading the way for the Green and Gold is Kenedi Goon with 215 kills on the season, an average of 2.47 kills per set. Goon has recorded 10+ kills in 11 matches this fall. Following her is Wakaya Wilson with 200 kills, averaging 2.35 kills per set.
Senior Olivia Karhoff has collected 323 digs this fall, an average of 3.89 digs per set. Karlhoff also has 20 service aces and 67 assists. Addison Conti follows her with 196 digs. The setter has recorded 580 assists in her junior season, an average of 6.67 assists per set. Conti also leads the team with 30 service aces and has 22 blocks.
The Dragons defeated the Panthers, 3-0, in September to even the all-time record to 11-11. Prior to the loss, ODU had won the last five meetings against TU.
Game Times
On Saturday, first serve is set for 5:00 PM in Kates Gymnasium. On Tuesday evening, the match is set to begin at 7:00 PM in the Gillmor Student Center.
