Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team closed out the month of January with one last road trip to the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon. The Oilers bested the Panthers, 85-70, grabbing their second conference win of the season.
Box Score Notes
- Junior Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) had a 21-point performance, playing the full 40 minutes. Stare went a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe and 3-5 from behind the arc. The guard dished out five assists and collected three steals.
- Freshman Sarah Ochs (Beavercreek, Ohio) netted a career-high of 15 points off 6-10 shooting. Ochs led the way with six boards and tallied three assists.
- Madelyn Fearon (Greenville, Ohio) notched nine points, all coming from downtown. Fellow guard, Macy Chapman (Hilliard, Ohio), registered eight points, snagging three rebounds and a steal.
How It Happened
- The Oilers struck first with a layup in the opening seconds. The Panthers responded with a 7-0 run to snag the lead of 7-3. The Black and Gold extended their lead to as many as six before exchanging buckets the rest of the quarter with the Orange and Black. ODU and UF ended the quarter tied 18-all.
- Chapman began the second period with a pair of free throws to give Ohio Dominican a two-point edge. Findlay retaliated with an eight-point swing to go up 29-22 with 5:21 remaining before the break. The Panthers cut their deficit to four at the intermission after going 4-7 from behind the arc the rest of the quarter. ODU trailed 42-38 at the half.
- The Oilers opened the third quarter with a layup. Ochs answered with a big three-pointer, bringing Ohio Dominican within three in the opening minutes. Findlay and Ohio Dominican continued to match each other the rest of the quarter with each team going 5-15 from the field. The Panthers entered the final 10 minutes behind by nine.
- UF grew their lead to as many as 15 with 5:00 minutes remaining. Back-to-back scores from Ochs and Stare gave the Black and Gold some life, cutting their deficit to nine. Despite the last-ditch effort, the Black and Gold fell to the Orange and Black 85-70.
