Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team opened conference play on Thursday evening with a rematch of the 2021 G-MAC Tournament Championship against Lake Erie. This time, the Panthers were victorious.
The Black and Gold outshot the Storm 17-8 in the match and 6-1 in the first half. Jack Heyes (New Albany, Ohio) opened up the scoring in the 37th minute after connecting with Jacob Gruber (Westerville, Ohio) to take the lead, 1-0.
Coming out of the break, Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) and Mohamed Sheik (Columbus, Ohio) fired off two quick shots but missed the mark. Freshman Jack Jenkins (Canal Winchester, Ohio) extended the ODU lead with a solo shot in the 61st minute.
Lake Erie responded with back-to-back goals in the 68th and the 71st minutes when Tomas Fernandez assisted Teddy Baker bringing it to 2-all late in the second half.
In the 78th minute, Gruber scored the go-ahead goal for the Black and Gold. The Storm tried to counter late, but goalkeeper Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio) was there to collect one of his two saves. The Panthers gathered the road win, 3-2.
