Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Saturday evening the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team shut out #11 Walsh at home, beating the undefeated Cavaliers 5-0.
Walsh opened up the match with back-to-back shots from two different players in the 10th and 11th minutes. Austin Stassinis registered a shot in the 17th minute forcing ODU keeper Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio) to collect his first save.
Three different Panthers fired off shots before junior Mohamed Sheik (Columbus, Ohio) connected with the back of the net off a pass from Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) in the 28th minute.
Pulles collected a second save right before the half off a shot from Leandro Louro in the 43rd minute.
Coming out of the break, freshman Lucas Baker (Hilliard, Ohio) combined with Marco Perez (Gilbert, Ariz.) to collect his first career goal, extending the ODU lead 2-0 in the 55th minute.
Sheik continued to pressure the Cavalier's defense when he paired with Carter Patchett (Dublin, Ohio) in the 59th minute, tallying his second goal of the night. The Panthers lead 3-0.
The Black and Gold grew their lead to 4-0 after Nuno Lopez (Foz, Spain) laced a cross to Shingai Nindi (Shanghai, China) in the 67th minute.
The Panthers were awarded a penalty kick in the 79th minute. Sheik converted the penalty to score his third goal in the match. With no answer from Walsh, Ohio Dominican took the match 5-0.
