Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team welcomed California (Pa.) to Sunbury Road on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers drew with the Vulcans, 2-2.
Goalkeeper Ethan Kraynak (Worthington, Ohio) was put to work early in his first career start when Vulcans forward Kobe Norfleet fired off a shot in the 1st minute.
The Black and Gold were awarded a penalty kick in the 22nd minute. Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) capitalized, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
In less than five minutes, ODU extended their lead over Cal (Pa) to 2-0 when Shingai Nindi (Shanghai, China) connected with a pass from Mohamed Sheik (Columbus, Ohio).
With the first half winding down, Sheik tried to convert a scoring opportunity in the 42nd minute but Vulcans keeper Payton Smith collected the save.
Senior Carter Patchett (Dublin, Ohio) opened the second half with a shot on goal but was denied by Cal (Pa) goalkeeper AJ Visco.
In the 65th minute, Kraynak registered two saves off of back-to-back shots from the Vulcans front line. A minute later, forward Zach Vanek cut the Cal (Pa) deficit in half, bringing the score 2-1.
Brady Olsen combined with teammate Logan Errett to tie the game at 2-all in the 84th minute. ODU had no time to respond and ended in a draw, 2-2.
