Armbrust Breaks School Record in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The indoor season began for the Ohio Dominican track and field season on Saturday (Dec. 3) at the Wittenberg Tiger Opener at the Steemer Center.

22 personal records were set by the Panthers and a school record was broken twice on the women's side.

Brooke Armbrust (Grove City, Ohio) broke the ODU record in both her prelim and final run for the 60 meter dash. Armbrust ran a 7.73 prelim race before winning the 60 meter final with a top time of 7.61 seconds. Later in the day, Armbrust finished third in the 200 meter run with a PR of 26.08 seconds.

Molly Van Horn (Granville, Ohio) added a pair of second place finishes in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, clocking in at 25.93 and 59.84 seconds, respectively. Van Horn set personal best marks in those races as well as a 7.95 second PR in the 60 meter prelim races.

G'nae Morrison (San Antonio, Texas) finished 12th in the 60 meters prelims, setting a personal best time of 8.20 seconds.

Nikane Ambos (Wapakoneta, Ohio) and Kassydee Owens (Harlan, Kentucky) both set personal records in the 60 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters. Ambos clocked in with times of 8.36 seconds (60 meters), 28.26 seconds (200 meters) and 1:04.25 (400 meters) to reach her top career times. Owens followed with the PR times of 8.54 seconds (60 meters), 29.21 seconds (200 meters) and 1:05.10 (400 meters).

Marie Pascaline Ndayishimye tallied a PR throw in the shot put of 8.84 meters.

On the men's side, Eugene Boahen set a PR during his second place run in the 60 meter final, timing out at 6.90 seconds. He ran a 6.99 second race in the prelim.

Aly Diaby hit bests in two of his events, including a 50.88 second PR in the 400 meter run as he finished sixth overall. He added a ninth place finish in the 200 meter run, finishing at 23.11 seconds.

Owen Wilhelm (Sunbury, Ohio) was eighth in the high jump with a best jump of 1.79 meters. His qualifying time in the 60 meters of 7.82 was a career mark in his second year.

Blake Wilson had personal records in the 60 meters (7.33) and 400 meters (51.51) while he had the ninth best time in the 400 meter race.

Manny Codjoe (Bolingbrook, Illinois) just missed the 60 meter final in ninth place. The senior came in 20th place in the 200 meter run with a time of 23.56 seconds.

In his collegiate debut, Ben Seely hit a PR mark in the 60 meters at 7.33 seconds in 17th place. For the 200 meter run, Seely was 19th with another PR of 23.55 seconds.

Ethan Sinning (Tipp City, Ohio) was 21st in the 5K, stopping the clock at 16:26.26.

Freshman Jibri Pass (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished tenth in the high jump with a best attempt of 1.74 meters and then hit a 25.10 second PR in the 200 meter dash.

The Panthers will return to action in Springfield again on January 28th at Wittenberg.
