Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – On Thursday evening the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team began their trip south at Ky. Wesleyan, dropping the contest 3-1.
KWC opened the scoring early in the 2nd minute after Theo White assisted Calum Newson. Marco Perez (Gilbert, Ariz.) responded with three shots before the 8th minute.
The Purple Panthers went up 2-0 after Newson scored off of a cross from White. Carter Patchett (Dublin, Ohio) retaliated with a solo goal in the 25th minute to cut the deficit in half.
Both Shingai Nindi (Shanghai, China) and Mubelele Mhango (Blantyre, Malawi) fired off shots in the 28th minute but missed the mark. The Panthers outshot Ky. Wesleyan 13-4 in the first half.
The Black and Gold began the second half with a shot from Jacob Gruber (Westerville, Ohio) in the 46th minute, forcing the KWC keeper to collect a save. Mohamed Sheik (Columbus, Ohio) followed up with a shot of his own in the 49th minute, missing high.
Nindi let off his fourth shot of the match in the 65th minute, missing far left. ODU goalkeeper Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio) tallied his first save in the 73rd minute off a shot from Julian Gonzalez.
Senior Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) registered a shot in the 79th minute but missed just to the left of the goal. KWC extended their lead 3-1 with Newson notching his second goal and White his second assist in the 87th minute. ODU had no answer and lost to the Purple Panthers 3-1.
