Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – On Thursday evening, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team hosted the Eagles at Panther Stadium. Ashland defeated the Black and Gold 3-0.
Senior Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) opened the match with a shot to the bottom right of the net. Eagles' keeper Ty Bowden was there to collect the save in the 4th minute.
In the 18th minute, Marco Perez (Gilbert, Ariz.) followed up with a shot of his own, missing the mark. Before the break, Shingai Nindi (Shanghai, China) and Jack Jenkins (Canal Winchester, Ohio) fired off back-to-back shots in the 38th and 39th minutes, forcing the Ashland keeper to grab two more saves.
Ashland began the second half with a quick goal from Haruki Kimura in the 52nd minute to take the lead 1-0. ODU keeper Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio) collected his first save off a shot in the 53rd minute.
Perez and Jacob Gruber (Westerville, Ohio) let off consecutive shots before the Eagles expanded their lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute after Vander Rocha connected with the back of the net.
The Eagles scored their third and final goal of the match in the 82nd minute. The Black and Gold rallied with three shots in a row in the 87th minute but couldn't convert. AU downed the Panthers by a score of 3-0.
