Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio – Freshman Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) tallied 26 points but it wasn't enough as the Ohio Dominican women's basketball fell on the road to Tiffin University.
The two clubs opened the contest by trading scoring chances. The Black and Gold claimed their first lead of the game when Stare converted her first jump shot of the day three minutes into the game. An 8-0 run from the Dragons propelled the hosts to the lead at the end of the first quarter.
TU shot 66% from the field to extend the lead to 32-23 at the halftime break.
ODU returned to the floor and began the third quarter shooting an impressive 55% from the field. Stare tallied five points during the quarter while Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio) chipped in five points to close the gap to 41-40 heading into the final quarter.
The Black and Gold tied the game with 3:16 remaining as freshman Kayla McClendon (Columbus, Ohio) converted a three-point field goal from the left wing to tie the game at 53-53. Two free throws from Stare gave the Black and Gold a two-point advantage heading into the final 2:29 of the game. Tiffin tied the game as Jessica Chase converted two free throws in the final minute, she struck again in the final seven seconds to tally the game-winning layup and deliver Tiffin the victory.
