Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team fell on the road to Walsh University 92-48 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Guard Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) led the Panthers in scoring, tallying 14 points on the afternoon. The guard also added three assists to the cause. Schlabach opened the game with a three-pointer generated off a steal from Brynn Mullet (Berlin, Ohio). That would be the only lead the Black and Gold would enjoy during the contest.
Walsh began the game strong shooting 71% from the field in the opening period and converting four three-pointers. The Cavalier lead would reach as much as seven points but a timely 6-2 run from the visitors helped tie the game at 19-19 with 1:44 remaining in the opening quarter. Senior Bailey Williams (Dublin, Ohio) captured two of her five first-quarter points on a jump shot to level the contest. Walsh closed the half on a five to zero run and grew their lead to 24-19 at the end of the first quarter.
The Cavaliers hot shooting carried into the second quarter as the hosts extended their lead to 49-29 at the break.
ODU began the second half strong, shooting 44% from the field. Grace Hete (Akron, Ohio) tallied five points and one rebound and Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) scored four of her 12 total points during the third period. Walsh went on a 22-2 run to close out the game which powered the hosts to a 92-48 victory.
