Box Score 2 INDIANA, Pa. – Junior Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) set a single match career high with 23 kills against Shepherd to highlight Ohio Dominican volleyball's Day Two performance at the IUP Invitational.
Despite 38 total kills over two matches from Fecht, ODU fell in five sets to Tusculum (25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 27-25, 10-15) and in four sets to Shepherd (25-17, 23-25, 21-25, 22-25).
The Panthers finish the opening weekend of play 2-2 overall.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Fecht hit .338 on the day, including a .405 percentage in the night cap against Shepherd.
- The junior also added 10 digs and three blocks defensively.
- Senior Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) and sophomore Olivia Kirksey () each posted over 20 kills for the second straight day. The duo combined for eight service aces during the finale of the invitational as well.
- Posting 40 or more assists in each match Saturday was junior Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio). Deitsch finished the day with 84 assists and 30 digs.
- Several Panthers recorded 10-plus digs in a single match Saturday, as the team was led by sophomore Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio), who finished with 20 digs in each contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED (TUSCULUM)
- Ohio Dominican used a 9-1 scoring run to secure a 21-16 advantage in the opening set against the Pioneers. ODU eventually went on to take the set, 25-23.
- After dropping two consecutive games, the Panthers needed to win the fourth to force a decisive fifth set.
- Despite trailing 8-3 early, ODU rallied to tie the fourth frame late at 22-all. The Panthers built on the momentum and finished the set with a 27-25 victory.
- The Black & Gold led by as many as two points in the fifth set, but Tusculum closed the deciding game on a 7-1 run to take the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED (SHEPHERD)
- The Panthers took the opening set against the Rams, 25-17, due to eight kills in 12 total attacks from Fecht (.667).
- ODU had double-digit attack errors though in the next three sets, all of which went to Shepherd.
- The second set saw ODU, and SU combine for 11 ties and seven lead changes, but it was the Rams that scored the final four points of the game to win 25-23.
- Ohio Dominican's only lead in the third set came early, 2-1. The Rams led by as many as six points in the game to earn a 25-21 decision and go up 2-1 in the match.
- The Panthers appeared to be on their way to forcing another fifth set Saturday, scoring 10 of the first 12 points of the fourth game.
- Shepherd though, closed the set strong, rallying for a 25-22 win.

- Ohio Dominican returns to action next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10 and 11, with four matches at the Charleston Golden Eagle Invitational.
