Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – Behind a raucous student-led crowd, the Ohio Dominican volleyball team swept Cedarville in three sets Tuesday evening inside Alumni Hall.
In a rematch of the 2021 spring G-MAC Quarterfinal, the Panthers earned a slice of revenge on Tuesday night by sweeping the Yellow Jackets by a score of 25-19, 27-25 and 25-17. Ohio Dominican improves to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in the G-MAC with the win.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Earning her first career start, freshman Jazlyn Lohman (De Pere, Wisc.) registered five blocks, one solo and four assisted. Lohman pitched in a pair of kills as well, both coming in the third set.
- The Panthers enjoyed a 10-6 advantage in team blocks. ODU also recorded 10 services aces to Cedarville's two.
- Sophomore Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) led ODU with 16 kills and five blocks. Kirksey hit .324 for the match and pitched in four digs.
- Junior Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio) and senior Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) produced 10 and eight kills, respectively.
- Collecting four kills and four blocks was junior Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio).
- Leading ODU with 34 assists was junior Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio). Deitsch collected a career-high six service aces as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black & Gold scored 12 of the first 13 points in the opening set, which included four service aces. Powered by seven kills from Kirksey, ODU never trailed in a 25-19 decision.
- The second set saw ODU and Cedarville (2-7, 1-4 G-MAC) trade three leads and six ties. The Yellow Jackets led late, 24-22, but kills from Maxwell and Deitsch tied the set at 24-all. Fecht then logged a kill, followed by a set-ending point from Mya Linder (Grove City, Ohio) to win 27-25.
- Kirksey, Maxwell and Remmetter all posted four kills in the third set, one the Panthers never trailed in after scoring the first five points. ODU cruised to a 25-17 victory.
