ASHLAND, Ohio – After an undefeated streak in conference play, the Ohio Dominican volleyball team fell to Ashland University in a hard-fought four-set match. Despite taking the opening set 25-21, ODU drops the next three 25-21, 25-10, and 25-16 to Ashland.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Leading the Panthers, sophomore Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) tallied 14 kills. She also added five digs and assisted on three blocks.
- Junior Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) added 11 kills of her own. She led ODU with a .421 hitting percentage.
- Junior Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) finished with 36 assists. Deitsch also contributed 10 digs and four kills.
- On the defensive end, Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) led the Panthers with 16 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio Dominican came out strong in the first set with 16 kills to Ashland's 11, taking the set 25-21.
- In the second set, the Panthers were out hit by the Eagles 19 to 13. With six ties and four lead changes, Ashland takes it 25-21.
- Ashland led the entire third set adding 13 kills to Ohio Dominicans 6. The Panthers also had seven errors in the set, losing it 25-10 putting Ashland up 2-1.
- The Panther's only lead in the fourth set came early, 4-3. With losing seven of the last 10 points of the set, the Eagles won the set 25-16.
