WHEELING, W. Va. -- The Ohio Dominican volleyball team had three players with double-digit kills Tuesday evening, but saw its six-match win streak come to an end with a five-set loss at Wheeling.
The Panthers (8-3) entered play Tuesday riding the program's longest winning streak since 2009. Ohio Dominican and Wheeling (9-4) traded the first four sets, with the Cardinals taking Games 1 & 3 (25-22, 25-12), while ODU claimed the even sets (25-15, 26-24). Wheeling then used an early advantage to win the fifth and decisive set 15-9.

Junior Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) set a career-best assist mark last weekend and nearly tied the mark Tuesday night with 47 helpers. Deitsch also pitched in three kills and seven digs.

Posting her collegiate-best marks in digs (7) and blocks (4) was sophomore Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio). Kirksey also registered 10 kills.

Reigning G-MAC South Offensive Player of the Week, junior Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio), paced the Panthers with 16 kills. Fecht had two solo blocks as well.

Senior Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) logged an all-around box score of 15 kills, seven digs and two service aces.
- Sophomore Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) recorded a team-high 23 digs.

ODU and Wheeling have a combined 17-7 record after play Tuesday night.

Wheeling claimed 10 of the first 15 points in the opening set. ODU closed its deficit to as little as one point late, 21-20, however, the Cardinals never trailed in the game to win 25-22.

Fecht posted seven kills in the second set, as ODU hit .312 in the game to even the match at 1-1. The Panthers led by as many as 10 points in Set Two on three separate occassions, including the final score, 25-15.

After logging just six kills in a third-set loss, ODU bounced back with a .233 team hitting clip and 17 kills in the fourth game. The Panthers and Cardinals exchanged two lead changes and 10 ties in the set, which saw the two sides in a 24-24 stalemate after a 6-0 WU scoring run. A kill from Remmetter followed by a WU attacking error though gave the Black & Gold the set 26-24, forcing the match into a fifth game.

After a Fecht kill tied the final set at 1-1, ODU conceded the next two points and could not rally to even the score for the remainder of the game. Wheeling hit a match-high .389 and tallied four of the final six points to win 15-9.

Ohio Dominican returns to G-MAC play this weekend with road matches at Tiffin and Ashland.

The stretch opens with a 7 p.m. match at Tiffin on Friday, Sept. 24.
