CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Powered by the explosive offensive duo of Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) and Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), the Ohio Dominican volleyball finished the Charleston Golden Eagle Invitational with four-set wins over IUP and Winston-Salem on Saturday, Sept. 11.
The Panthers improved to 6-2 this fall and 2-0 against IUP with a 26-24, 25-19, 19-15, 25-21 victory. Ohio Dominican concluded the invitational with their fourth win, a 25-13, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13 triumph over WSSU.

Fecht and Kirksey combined for 75.5 of ODU's 131 total points Saturday, over 57 percent of the team's offense.

Kirksey paced the Panthers with 38 kills on the day, including a career-high 23 against IUP. The sophomore hit .526 in the opener before adding 15 kills and two blocks versus WSSU.

Fecht joined Kirksey as Panthers with 20-plus points against IUP, registering 18 kills (.387 hit percentage) and three blocks.

Junior Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) averaged nine assists per set, totaling 72 over eight sets. Deitsch added 23 digs and two service aces.

The back row was led by sophomore Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) with 31 digs. Shoup posted 21 digs, seven per set, in the win over WSSU.

The Panthers had 16 service aces Saturday, led by Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) with four. Remmetter posted 17 kills on the day as well.

An entertaining first two sets saw ODU and IUP combine for 19 ties and eight lead changes. The Panthers though, won both sets with 5-1 and 6-1 set-ending scoring runs, respectively.

The Crimson Hawks hit over .300 in the third set and used a 10-3 spurt to eventually go on and win the game, 25-19.

Ohio Dominican led for most of the third set after doubling up IUP, 8-4, early on.

The fourth and final set was won by ODU on a kill by Remmetter.

Despite conceding the opening point of the match, ODU raced out to a 9-3 lead against Winston-Salem, taking advantage of several miscues by the Rams.

Ohio Dominican led by as many as 14 points in the opening game, cruising to a 25-13 decision.

WSSU used a late-set scoring run to secure the second set, 25-20, tying the match at one-set apiece.

The Panthers hit over .400 as a team in the third set.

After giving up the first three points of Game Three, ODU registered 11 of the next 14 points to take the lead for the rest of the set.

Ohio Dominican's last deficit in the match was 6-5 in the third set. The Panthers never trailed in the fourth game, enjoying a 25-13 victory.

The Panthers are slated for their first three home matches of the season next weekend, including Great Midwest Athletic Conference contests against Trevecca Nazarene and Ky. Wesleyan.

The busy home weekend begins at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17.
