Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican men's soccer began its Great Midwest Athletic Conference slate, traveling to Painesville, Ohio, to battle No.11 Lake Erie.
Forward Ayden Von Essen scored in the fourth minute to put pressure on the Panthers early on. He tallied one more in the 10th minute to double the lead to 2-0. The Black and Gold responded as Nuno Lopez (Foz, Spain) generated the first scoring opportunity for the visitors, unleashing a shot towards the center of the net but it was saved by the Lake Erie goalkeeper.
ODU cut the lead in half as Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) tallied a goal in the 35th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Goalkeeper Harry Castella (London, England, United Kingdom) made two of his five saves midway through the second half to keep the Black and Gold within striking distance. ODU nearly equalized as Jaxon Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) stepped to the spot after the Panthers earned a penalty kick. The defender's attempt was saved by Storm goalkeeper Tom John.
The Panthers attempted to equalize as Mo Sheik (Columbus, Ohio) had two late attempts on goal, both challenging John. ODU continued to push but unfortunately couldn't beat the LEC backstop and fell 2-1.

ODU travels to Cedarville University to battle the Yellow Jackets on March 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
