Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second time this calendar year the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team is heading back to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals. The Black and Gold advanced in the tournament by downing Tiffin University 1-0 on Saturday evening inside of Panther Stadium.
ODU struck early when Mo Sheik (Columbus, Ohio) collected a loose ball at midfield and proceeded to dribble down the pitch. The midfielder collected the ball and took a shot that challenged the Tiffin goalkeeper. The rebound spilled into the penalty area and that's where teammate Khalif Hasson (Columbus, Ohio) pounced on the rebound to get the game's first and only goal.
Tiffin attempted to mount a stiff comeback led by Michael Owusu and Davide Freezi but goalkeeper Alvaro Benito (Zargoza, Spain) stood tall to deny the Dragons an equalizing goal and tying his career-high in saves with eight for the contest. The second-year backstop was the busier goalkeeper as he fought off a flurry of attacks from the Dragons to help lift the Black and Gold to a 1-0 victory.
