HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The Ohio Dominican volleyball team battled Ashland in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals but fell in four set Friday evening on the campus of Hillsdale College.
The Panthers won the opening set, 25-20, before dropping three straight games to the Eagles: 25-12, 25-14 and 25-15.

Two Panthers finished with double-digit kills, including Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) with a team-high 11.

Pitching in 10 kills and five digs was Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio).

Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) and Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) each produced nine kills, with the latter leading ODU with three blocks.

Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) registered an all-around stat line that included 39 assists, eight digs and three kills.

The duo of Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) and Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) combined for 33 digs in the back row.

Ashland enjoyed a .306 to .147 edge in team hitting percentage.

The theme of a balanced approach for ODU began in the first set, as five players logged multiple kills and four Panthers posted three-plus digs.

With the opening game tied at 15-all, ODU closed the set on a 10-5 scoring run, engineered by a key block from Fecht and Kirksey, as well as a kill from Maxwell to win 25-20.

Ashland improved its play at the net after the opening game, hitting over .300 in the final three sets.

The Eagles scored the first three points of Game Two and an additional 5-2 scoring run gave AU a 10-6.

Ashland never trailed in the second set, winning 25-12.

ODU led early in the third set, 7-4, but the game would eventually find its way into a 10-10 stalemate.

The Eagles though, scored 15 of the final 19 points in the game, and outhit ODU .390 to .122 to win the set 25-14 and take advantage in the match tally, 2-1.

Needing to win the fourth set to keep the match alive, the Panthers battled the Eagles and trailed by just three points, 15-12, midway through.

Ashland, however, responded with four consecutive points, a run that powered the Eagles to a 25-15 set decision and 3-1 final match score.

The Panthers conclude the fall 17-14 overall, their second straight winning season.

ODU finished G-MAC play 9-7 en route to its second straight postseason appearance.

The Black & Gold opened the G-MAC Tournament with a 3-0 road win at Findlay, marking the program's first postseason victory in their Division II era.
