FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican volleyball team received double-digit kills from Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio) and Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) but dropped a tight three-set match at Findlay Friday evening.
Despite losing in three sets, the Panthers were outscored by just eight points in the match, falling by a count of 25-22, 25-22 and 29-27.
With the loss, ODU falls to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in G-MAC play. The Oilers, winners in nine of their last 10 matches, improved to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in conference action.

Maxwell paced the Panthers with 13 kills, adding three blocks defensively.

Kirksey recorded 10 kills and four digs, while tying Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) for the team-high in blocks with five each.

Fecht pitched in nine kills and Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) hit .333 en route to seven kills.

Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) logged 37 of ODU's 38 assists.

Leading the back row was Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) with 13 digs.

Both sides posted three service aces, with ODU enjoying a 10-7 edge in team blocks.

ODU led late in the opening game, 20-19, but a 3-0 run from the Oilers put UF in front 22-20. Findlay then outscored the Panthers 3-2 down the stretch to win 25-22.

In the second set, a 6-2 scoring spurt gave the Panthers an 11-9 advantage. Findlay though, tallied five of the final six points in the set to secure Game One, 25-22.

Kills from Remmetter and Kirksey helped engineer a 4-1 start to the third set for the Black & Gold. ODU led by as many as four points in the game but needed back-to-back blocks from Kirksey and Fecht to tie the set at 24-all.

Following a service error by both sides, Findlay took advantage of two kills and one ODU attacking error to win 29-27.
