Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team got its second win over a ranked opponent this season, downing #22 Walsh University by the score of 3-1.
The Black and Gold wasted no time finding the back of the net as Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) scored the game's opening goal in the 14th minute of play to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage. Walsh quickly answered just six minutes later to level the game at one aside. The action calmed down as both teams remained level at 1-1 heading into the intermission.
Hassan struck again 11 minutes removed from the halftime break to collect his second goal of the evening and give the Panthers a 2-1 lead. Senior River Allbaugh (Pickerington, Ohio) nearly gave the visitors a two-goal lead when back-to-back scoring opportunities but was denied by Cavaliers goalkeeper Ethan Burawa in the 70th minute.
The Panthers expanded their lead to three goals when freshman Nico Briones (Pickerington, Ohio) scored in the 82nd minute off an assist from Shingai Nindi (Shanghai, China) and Zach Ziolo (Dublin, Ohio) to swell the lead to 3-1.
Walsh forward Patrick O'Halloran attempted to bring the hosts back but was denied by goalkeeper Alvaro Benito (Zargoza, Spain) in the dying moments to lift the visitors to the win.
