Trojans Snap Panther Win Streak in Nashville

NASHVILLE -- The Ohio Dominican volleyball team saw its four-match win streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, falling on the road to Trevecca Nazarene in four sets (30-28, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19).  

Ohio Dominican (15-11) and Trevecca (17-8) are now tied for second in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference South Division standings. Both the Panthers and Trojans conclude the weekend with an 8-5 conference mark.  

BOX SCORE NOTES 

  • Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) posted 25-plus assists for the seventh consecutive match, finishing with 37 on Saturday. Deitsch also posted 10 digs, her fourth double-double in the past six appearances.  

  • Three players registered 10-plus digs in the match, led by Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) with 23. Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) pitched in 14 digs and received 40 of the 84 TNU service attempts. 

  • Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) led the offense with 16 kills. She also co-led ODU with Jazlyn Lohman (De Pere, Wisc.) with three blocks.  

  • Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) logged 13 kills and two blocks.  

  • Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio) recorded a team-best three service aces, while adding nine kills offensively.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • An entertaining first set saw ODU and TNU combine for 21 ties, as well as eight lead changes. 

  • The marathon first set though saw the Trojans hit .333 and survive late, 30-28.  

  • ODU jumped out to early advantages in both the second and third sets.  

  • In Game Two, the Panthers used a 10-2 scoring spurt to take control, 20-11. Despite a TNU rally, ODU received a kill and ace from Maxwell to win the set, 25-23.  

  • After leading 6-0 in the third set, Trevecca responded with 10 of the next 13 points to capture a 10-9 lead.  

  • The Panthers led 13-12 in the game, but after a 3-0 mini-run by TNU, never led the remainder of the way, falling 25-20.  

  • TNU hit over .300 in three of the four sets, including the final game at .317. The Trojans turned a 15-all stalemate into a 25-19 victory to win the match, 3-1. 

UP NEXT 

  • The Panthers return home next weekend for their final two home matches of the regular season.  

  • ODU begins the stretch with Tiffin at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5.
