Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Ohio Dominican volleyball won its fourth straight match, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan on the road Friday evening, 3-0.
The Panthers enjoyed a .258 to .082 advantage in hitting percentage, taking the match in three sets by a final count of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-16.
Improving their win streak to four matches, ODU moves to 15-10 overall and 8-4 in the Great Midwest.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Returning to the court, Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) registered a team-high 11 kills and six blocks. Kirksey hit .500 for the match.
- Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) and Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) pitched in nine and seven kills, respectively. Fecht added four blocks as well.
- ODU out blocked KWC 11-5 in the match and had five service aces to the Purple Panthers' two.
- Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) led ODU with four aces and added eight digs in the back row.
- Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) was perfect in 11 service receptions and led the team with 11 digs.
- Posting a team-best 26 assists was Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Panthers turned a 5-5 stalemate in the opening set to an 11-6 advantage, a run highlighted by a pair of Keipert aces.
- ODU eventually pushed its lead to double digits and a kill from Mya Linder (Grove City, Ohio) won the Black & Gold the set, 25-15.
- ODU and KWC combined for nine ties and five lead changes in the second set.
- Fecht and Remmetter combined for seven of ODU's 12 kills in the second set, hitting .500 en route to the Panthers claiming a 25-20 decision.
- Kirksey logged six kills in the final set, including three during an 8-3 scoring spurt for ODU.
- The Panthers secured the 3-0 match victory with a 25-16 third-set score.
