COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican volleyball team capped an unbeaten Homecoming weekend with a 3-1 win over Lake Erie on Saturday evening.
The Panthers (13-10, 7-4 G-MAC) won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-17. Lake Erie then used a strong start in game three to win 27-25, before ODU took the match in set four, 25-19.
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Junior Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) had a double-double with 37 assists and a season high 20 digs. She also added four kills and three service aces.
- In the front row, Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) tallied 16 kills, leading the team. She contributed four blocks as well.
- Remmetter and Deitsch combined for seven of the 10 Panther service aces.
- Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio) registered 12 kills. She also had seven digs and four blocks.
- Junior Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) led the team with six blocks. She documented 10 kills offensively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Panthers never trailed in the first set. They ended the game on a four-point run, winning it 25-19 over the Storm (3-20, 1-10 G-MAC).
- In a competitive second set, Lake Erie rallied from an early deficit to tie it up 16-16. After a timeout by ODU, they went on a 9-1 scoring run to take it 25-17. The Panthers extended their lead to 2-0 in the match.
- After trailing 19-9 in the third set, Ohio Dominican went on a 11-2 run to tie up the game 21-21. The Panthers though, dropped the set 27-25.
- The Black and Gold came out strong in set four taking six of the first nine points. ODU never trailed in the fourth set and won 25-19.
