Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team got back to its winning ways on Thursday evening securing a 2-1 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College inside of the friendly confines of Panther Stadium.
It was a heated contest that featured both teams trading chances early on. In the fifth minute of play defender Jaxson Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) was fouled inside of the penalty area on a corner kick opportunity to earn his team a penalty kick. Senior River Allbaugh (Pickerington, Ohio) calmly took the spot-kick and converted to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
Senior Carter Patchett (Dublin, Ohio) nearly doubled the lead in fantastic fashion as his shot hit on the volley was saved by KWC goalkeeper Matthew Meyer. The Black and Gold defense remained strong as the Purple Panthers did not register a shot for the final 23 minutes of the first half.
Kentucky Wesleyan equalized in the 57th minute when Max Wawrin converted his chance off a great pass from Xavier Angel to level the game at 1-1. The visitors commanded possession for the next 15 minutes, challenging goalkeeper Cory Pulles (Pickerington, Ohio) to make both of his saves for the game.
In the 85th minute, the Panthers scored at the death as Mo Sheik (Columbus, Ohio) gathered a deflected shot from teammate Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) and buried it into the back of the net to give the Black and Gold the 2-1 victory over KWC.
