HAMMOND, Ind. -- Senior Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) made history Friday, Oct. 15, recording her 1,000th career kill to highlight Ohio Dominican volleyball's Day One performance at the 2021 Midwest Region Crossover.
Remmetter became the 14th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career kills. The senior is the first Panther to reach the mark since Jackie Oestreich and Tory Thompson both did so in 2016. Prior to play on Friday, only 45 active players across NCAA Division II had at least 1,000 career kills.
MATCH ONE – GRAND VALLEY STATE

The Panthers dropped their Midwest Region Crossover opener to Grand Valley State, 3-0.

GVSU enjoyed a .361 to .032 advantage in hitting percentage.

Olivia Kirksey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) paced the Panthers in the opening match with six kills.

Jazlyn Lohman (De Pere, Wisc.) posted five kills in seven total attacks and joined Kirksey on ODU's lone block in the match.

Leading ODU with 16 assists and nine digs was Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio).

The Black & Gold held an early lead in the opening set against the Lakers (10-7), but 3-1 and 4-2 scoring spurts late by GVSU forced ODU into both of its timeouts prior to winning the set, 25-16.

Grand Valley claimed the second and third sets, 25-13 and 25-12, respectfully.

Quincy claimed a 3-0 victory over ODU in the final session of Day One.

Remmetter and Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) combined for 25 of ODU's 42 kills in the second match of the day.

Both Remmetter and Fecht tied for the team high with 16 kills over two matches and each hit .333 or better against the Hawks.

Kirksey pitched in eight kills in the night cap.

Deitsch produced 39 of her 55 assists over two matches against Quincy, while adding eight digs in the second match as well.

Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) led ODU with 15 digs in Match Two.

ODU and QU combined for six ties in the first set, but after falling behind 7-6, the Panthers never led again, falling 25-16.

After dropping the second game 25-19, the Panthers jumped out to an 11-8 advantage in Set Three after a service ace from Kirksey.

Quincy though, responded in the final set with a 5-0 run to take a 13-11 lead, one they would not relinquish the rest of the way in a 25-22 decision.
