NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Junior Kamryn Maxwell (Norwalk, Ohio) recorded a career-high 17 kills but Ohio Dominican volleyball's comeback attempt fell short on the road at Walsh Friday evening, 3-1.
The Panthers dropped the opening two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-16. ODU then rallied late to claim the third game, 25-22. Walsh though, scored the final three points of the fourth set to win 28-26.

Maxwell registered her career-high kill mark after hitting .304 for the match. The junior added 11 digs defensively.

Junior Emilee Fecht (Hilliard, Ohio) led the team with a .375 hitting percentage en route to 16 kills.

For the seventh time this fall, junior Carleigh Deitsch (St. Henry, Ohio) recorded over 40 assists. Deitsch posted 45 helpers in the match to go with four kills, seven digs and a team-high two blocks.

Two additional Panthers joined Maxwell with 10-plus digs, including sophomore Kelsey Shoup (Dalton, Ohio) with an ODU-high 25.

Sophomore Alexis Keipert (Burlington, Ky.) registered a season-high 12 digs and was perfect in 18 service receptions.

Walsh recorded an efficient attacking effort in the first set, recording 18 kills and no errors on 43 total attempts, a .419 hitting clip.

The Cavaliers never trailed in the first two sets of the match.

Ohio Dominican fought back with a strong third set, led by six kills from Maxwell, as well as five and four respectively from Fecht and senior Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio).

Trailing in the third set by a count of 21-20, ODU rattled off five of the final six points, capped by a Remmetter kill, to keep the match alive and win the game, 25-22.

A tightly contested fourth set saw ODU and Walsh combine for 14 ties and seven lead changes.

Powered by eight kills in the final set from Fecht, ODU led late, 26-25. However, the Cavaliers tied the set on an attacking error then scored two additional points off an ace and kill to win 28-26.
