Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team put on a complete team performance to claim a 94-77 victory over Findlay on Tuesday evening inside the friendly confines of Alumni Hall.

The Oilers began the game earning the lead off a three-point conversion from guard Alison Utterback.

Findlay held the lead for just 20 seconds in the contest as the Black and Gold responded swiftly with a 15-7 run and refused to relinquish the lead. Senior Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) and Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) converted three-straight three-point field goals to give the Panthers a quick 9-3 lead.

Freshman Gabby Stare (Newark, Ohio) added a bucket as Troyer went on to secure four of her 12 first-quarter points to bookend the scoring run.

The Panthers continued to demonstrate their offensive prowess in the second quarter as Celeste Mershimer (Amanda, Ohio) opened the period with a three-point shot from the top of the key off a turnover forced by Stare.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half, with junior Bridget Landin getting the visitors within a point of the Panther lead. Troyer responded by adding another 10 points in the second quarter to send the hosts to the locker room with a 49-41 advantage at the half. Both teams closed their impressive first-half shooting display converting combined 12-of-16 shots as the second quarter expired.

Findlay outscored the Panthers 23-20 in the third quarter, as the visitors looked to claw back into the game. Oiler forward Sydney Kin took over, grabbing eight rebounds and scoring 10 points for the visitors. She received assistance from teammate Rachel Cooke who was perfect from beyond-the-arc (2-of-2) and tallied six points in an effort to close the gap.

ODU slammed on the gas in the final period as the Panthers nearly doubled the visitors scoring output. Schlabach came alive in the final quarter, scoring 11 points, and shooting lights out from the charity stripe. The junior guard finished the contest tying her career-high of 26 points.

Troyer finished with a new career-high as well, scoring 34 points on 13-of-25 shooting, and grabbing a team-high seven rebounds.

The victory gives Ohio Dominican its third straight victory at home and fourth in a row when scoring 90-plus points this season. Head coach Lynsey Warren moves to a perfect 19-0 when he squad scores 90-plus points in a contest.

The Black and Gold also improved its home unbeaten streak to eight games, a mark that ties them for 29th in the nation.

ODU enjoys a bit of a breather before heading on the road for its next contest against Ursuline College on Saturday, January 9 in Pepper Pike, Ohio. The Panthers have enjoyed success against the Arrows, winning the last four contests against their G-MAC foes.
