Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican women's basketball team used a 14-2 scoring to start the fourth quarter en route to a 66-56 home victory over Alderson Broaddus Saturday afternoon in Great Midwest action.
The Panthers have now won 11 of their last 13 games and improve to 5-1 in the month of February. The win improves ODU 16-11 overall and 11-6 in the G-MAC. Alderson Broaddus drops to 6-21 overall and 3-14 in conference competition.
Senior Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) scored a career-high 31 points on Thursday night and followed it up with 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting. The senior made 6-of-11 attempts from three-point range and added six rebounds. Classmate Brittleigh Macaulay (Big Prairie, Ohio) posted 14 points and six rebounds.
Pacing the Panthers in rebounds was sophomore Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) with a career-high 18. Junior Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) pitched in nine points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
Ohio Dominican opened the game on a 6-0 scoring run, as the Battlers started 0-of-7 from the floor. AB though, used an 8-0 run to capture an 11-8 advantage. The Battlers led by one point, 17-16 after 10 minutes of play.
Trailing by seven points in the second quarter, ODU held AB scoreless for over four minutes to tie the game at 25-all. The Battlers made just one of their final seven shots in the half as the score was tied 30-30.
ODU used another 6-0 scoring spurt to take a 43-37 advantage midway through the third quarter. Again, AB responded and pulled within one point by the period's end, 43-42.
The Panthers were able to open up the contest with the 14-2 run to start the fourth quarter to take a 57-44 lead with 4:50 remaining. The fourth quarter saw Fisher and Macaulay combine for 18 of ODU's 23 points and AB was only able to get within seven points down the stretch.
The Black & Gold overcame a .328 shooting clip with a 51-37 edge on the glass. ODU turned 21 offensive rebounds into 14 second chance points. The Panthers also turned 18 Battler turnovers into 18 points.
Ohio Dominican will now close the regular season with a Senior Day contest against Trevecca Nazarene next Saturday, Feb. 29. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside Alumni Hall.
