Box Score

Written by Sports Information Intern Ralph Schudel

TIFFIN, Ohio --  Ohio Dominican women's basketball earned a convincing 82-57 victory on the road over the Tiffin Dragons Saturday afternoon. The hosts jumped out to a quick start and grabbed a four point lead early in the contest. Sophomore Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg. Ohio) kept the Panthers in the game, scoring eight of her 18 points in the contest in the first quarter. She also converted two of ODU's four attempts from beyond the arch during the first period to keep ODU within one point at the end of the first period.

A field goal from Olivia Fox (Newark, Ohio) just one minute into the second quarter marked the last time Tiffin would hold the lead in the contest. The Panthers enjoyed a 27-8 run for the remainder of the period while shooting 71-percent from the floor.

Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) assisted Schlabach on the scoresheet, tallying nine points during the ODU run. Troyer's converted shot from the field with 35 seconds remaining in the first half sent the Panthers into the locker room with an 18 point advantage at halftime. Sophomore guard Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) was perfect from the field in the first half, collecting five points and four rebounds.

Coming out of the break ODU continued to enjoy success throughout the contest. Led by forward Brittleigh Macaulay (Big Prairie, Ohio) with six points in the quarter, ODU enjoyed a 9-3 run to swell the lead to 62-36 midway through the third quarter. The Panthers outrebounded the Dragons 12-7 in the period, allowing the Black and Gold to claim a 14-4 scoring advantage in the paint.

The Dragons clawed back in the fourth quarter, outscoring ODU 17-15. Guard Aarion Nichols scored four of her team-high six points but it wasn't enough as the Panthers held on to claim the 82-57 victory. Saturday's win sees Ohio Dominican finish the month of January with a 5-2 record, and earn a new season-high shooting percentage of .508, breaking the previous mark of .500 set against Glenville State on November 21.

It's been a great start to the new decade for the Panthers, with several players making an impact on the floor throughout the month.

Guard Alli Kern has 72 rebounds in the last six games. Saturday's win also marked the fifth straight game in which senior Brittleigh Macaulay scored 10 or more points and collected five or more rebounds. Senior Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) earned six assists in the win. That is the fourth time this season in which she has collected five or more assists in a game.

Angela Troyer finished Saturday's contest with 21 points. That tally marks the sixth time this season that the junior has eclipsed 20-points or more. Kennedy Schlabach also finished the month on a high-note. Her 18 point performance against Tiffin ties a season-high set against Kentucky Wesleyan on December 5th.

ODU returns to action Thursday when they travel to Vienna, West Virginia, to take on Ohio Valley. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
