Overly's Sharpshooting Helps Lead Women's Basketball Past AB, 63-55

Box Score

PHILIPPI, W. Va. – Senior guard Alexis Overly (Chillicothe, Ohio) hit 11-of-12 shots from the field, matching a career-high with 22 points, as Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team fought off Alderson Broaddus 63-55 in G-MAC play Thursday night.

ODU closed the game on an 8-0 run, sparked by Overly's layup with 1:25 to play, snapping a 55-all tie.

Junior guard Alexa Fisher (Powell, Ohio) grabbed an AB miss on the other end, and Overly set up a three-ball for freshman Kennedy Schlabach (Millersburg, Ohio) that put the Panthers in front 60-55 with 56 ticks left.

Schlabach then knocked down 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

Overly set a new career-high in field goals made and accounted for nearly half of the Panthers' buckets on the night (23-of-56, 41.1 percent.) She also grabbed five boards.

Schlabach scored 11 points off the bench and classmate Alli Kern (Waterford, Ohio) pulled down 13 rebounds, just shy of the 15 she grabbed in last Saturday's win at Ursuline.

The game featured 11 ties and 15 lead changes as ODU came back from a 26-19 deficit late in the first half.

The Panthers closed to within 26-23 at the break, and three-pointers by sophomore Angela Troyer (Sugarcreek, Ohio) and junior Hannah Clark (Glenmont, Ohio), along with an Overly bucket, put them in front 37-32 midway through the third period.

AB recovered and took a 43-42 advantage going into the fourth, and neither side grabbed more than a four-point cushion until ODU's late push.

Ohio Dominican (13-11, 10-8 G-MAC) returns home to take on Davis & Elkins at 1 p.m. Saturday in Alumni Hall.
