Quartet Records Double Figures In Kills As Volleyball Concludes Play At Clarion

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CLARION, Pa. – Four players finished with at least 12 kills, but Ohio Dominican's volleyball team suffered a narrow 3-1 setback to Concord (24-26, 22-25, 25-22, 23-25) Saturday at the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament.

The Panthers then dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 13 Gannon (20-25, 17-25, 15-25) to close out tournament play.

In the opener against Concord, freshman Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) continued her strong rookie campaign as she set a new season-high with 19 kills while hitting .372. Senior Rebecca Skidmore (Westerville, Ohio) matched a career-high with 19 kills and hit .233 with five blocks, and freshman Zoë Carmichael (Wooster, Ohio) made her season-debut and responded with 13 kills while swinging .400.

Sophomore Alexis Young (Gahanna, Ohio) also chipped in with 12 kills and 14 digs for her second double-double of the weekend.

Junior Bailey Line (Westerville, Ohio) recorded 57 assists, just shy of a career-high, as the Panthers racked up 66 kills and hit .228. ODU finished with at least 15 kills in every set.

ODU had a 24-21 lead in the first set, but couldn't put it away, and the Panthers also had a 22-20 lead in the second frame before Concord rallied.

The Panthers staved off a late Concord rally in the third and led 15-10 in the fourth frame, but Concord came back to register the win.

Freshman Tate Rybarczyk (Avon Lake, Ohio) led ODU with 22 digs in the contest.

Rybarczyk led the defense against Gannon as well, recording 22 digs once more, but ODU hit just .098 against the nationally ranked Knights.

Remmetter had eight kills while Skidmore and Young added six apiece, and freshman Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.) led ODU with 17 assists.

The Panthers begin G-MAC play next weekend, playing Alderson Broaddus at 6 p.m. Friday, Ohio Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday, and Davis & Elkins at 2 p.m. Sunday.
