COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite taking the opening set from a Findlay squad that's first in the G-MAC and receiving votes in the national poll, Ohio Dominican's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 (25-22, 15-25, 13-25, 17-25) setback to the Oilers Friday night in Alumni Hall.

The Panthers hit .406 in the first frame, with 14 kills against just one error. ODU rallied from a 16-13 deficit to tie it at 18 on a kill by freshman Alyssa Hoyng (Celina, Ohio), and an ace by junior Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) and a Findlay setting error put the Panthers on top 20-18.

Two kills by junior Patricia Barreto (Findlay, Ohio) and consecutive terminations by freshman Alexis Young (Gahanna, Ohio) gave the Panthers a 24-20 cushion, and an Oiler service error ended the set in ODU's favor.

The Panthers kept that momentum into the early part of the second set, going on top 10-6 after a triple block by Hoyng, junior Rebecca Skidmore (Westerville, Ohio) and freshman Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.). The Oilers (21-4, 12-1 G-MAC) would score the next five points, though, and with the set even at 12, closed the second frame on a 13-3 run.

Findlay then hit .579 in the third frame and limited the Panthers to an .029 hitting percentage in the fourth to take the win.

Young led ODU with 13 kills while swinging .308, matching a season-high in kills. Hoyng added seven kills with a .250 hitting percentage and Barreto also had seven kills with a .231 attack percentage.

Barr notched 30 assists, marking the seventh time this season she's had at least 30 helpers in a match, and Ficker led the team with 11 digs.

Ohio Dominican (4-21, 3-10 G-MAC) remains at home to host Hillsdale at 1 p.m. Saturday.
