MIDLAND, Mich. — Ohio Dominican's volleyball team fell in five sets to Northwood, 3-2 in a road GLIAC match on Saturday night.
The Panthers (4-6, 1-2 GLIAC) committed 10 less attack errors than the Timberwolves (9-3, 3-1 GLIAC) but were unable to gain the edge they needed to win the match.
Freshman Bailey Line (Westerville, Ohio) and senior Megan Hendershot (Galloway, Ohio) led the Panthers in total attacks with 26 apiece. Senior Tory Thompson (Quncy, Ohio) led Ohio Dominican in kills with 22, while Hendershot led the squad in digs with 30.
ODU was able to capture the first set 25-17 before dropping the second set 25-21. The Panthers began the third set with a 5-2 run and finished the set by outscoring the Timberwolves 20-12 to win 25-14 and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
But Northwood fought back, winning the fourth set 25-22 in a hard fought game that saw neither team separate by more than four points, tying the match 2-2.
After taking a 3-1 lead in the fifth and final set, the Panthers saw Northwood end the set on a 12-7 run to win 15-9, and win the match, 3-2.
ODU will return home to Alumni Hall for its next five matches, beginning with a GLIAC contest against Lake Erie on Tuesday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
