The Panthers made a run late in the first set after falling behind 23-20, as a kill by Nadler, an ace by Thompson, and another kill from sophomore Patricia Barreto (Findlay, Ohio) helped ODU even the score at 24-24. The Cavaliers put the last two points on the board, though, to take the frame.
ODU then found itself in an 13-11 hole in the second set but managed to score the nest six points to pull in front, capped by a kill from senior Taylor Foster (Ida, Mich.). Walsh drew within two on a pair of occasions, including 22-20, but Skidmore answered with consecutive terminations and Thompson finished the set with a kill.
A 5-0 run late in the third set helped the Panthers take a 20-14 lead, and ODU rallied from an 18-17 deficit in the fourth frame by closing it on an 8-2 run to take the match.
Freshman Bailey Line (Westerville, Ohio) led the Panthers with 22 assists and sophomore Jordan Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) added 18 helpers as well.
