Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio – Senior Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) joined exclusive company as she reached the 1,000 kill and 1,000 dig mark in her career, but Ohio Dominican's volleyball team fell 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 19-25, 20-25) to Clarion in the final game of the TownePlace Suites Classic in Findlay.
Thompson is the first ODU player since Rachel Billing in 2011 to surpass the 1,000/1,000 milestone. She had 10 kills today to give her 1,001 in her career, along with 1,067 digs.
Senior Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) led the Panthers (3-4) with 13 kills while hitting .345 and sophomore Kelly Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) tallied 11 kills while swatting .417.
A tandem block by senior Taylor Foster (Ida, Mich.) and Nadler in the second set gave ODU a 13-9 lead, and kills by Oestreich and Nadler sealed the frame in ODU's favor.
The Panthers started strong in the third set, leading 6-2 before Clarion (3-4) rallied to win it, and the Panthers jumped to a 9-3 edge in the fourth frame before the Golden Eagles again recovered to claim the set and the match.
Freshman Bailey Line (Westerville, Ohio) led the Panthers with 23 assists and senior Megan Hendershot (Galloway, Ohio) paced the team with 14 digs.
Ohio Dominican is back in action to begin GLIAC play with a 5 p.m. match Saturday against Walsh in Alumni Hall.
