Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team lost a narrow third set and couldn't recover in the fourth frame as ODU fell 3-1 at Tiffin on Friday night in GLIAC play.
After falling 25-17 in the first set, ODU recovered to take the second set 25-18. However, the Dragons escaped with a 25-23 decision in the third and pulled away with a 25-13 win in the fourth.
Sophomore Kelly Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) led the Panthers with 16 kills and hit .379, while senior Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) recorded 14 kills and senior Taylor Foster (Ida, Mich.) notched a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs.
Sophomore Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 27 assists with 16 digs and freshman Raven Barleston (Louisville, Ky.) added 20 assists and 10 digs. Senior Megan Hendershot (Galloway, Ohio) had 16 digs and senior Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) tallied nine kills.
The Panthers recovered from an 8-4 deficit and totaled 17 kills in the second set. Tied at 16, ODU scored the next five points, capped on a block by Thompson and sophomore Patricia Barreto (Findlay, Ohio) to take control.
ODU had a pair of three point leads, including at 19-16, in the third set. Tiffin answered to take a 21-20 lead, but kills by Oestreich and Nadler pushed ODU back in front, 22-21. The Dragons scored the next three points, though, and won the set after an ODU service error at 24-23.
ODU trailed 10-9 in the fourth set, but Tiffin (17-11, 7-7 GLIAC) scored nine straight to help put the match out of reach.
Ohio Dominican (8-16, 3-11 GLIAC) remains on the road for a 6 p.m. contest at Ashland on Saturday.
