Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Senior Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) had 20 kills for the sixth time in a match this season, but Ohio Dominican's volleyball team fell 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 16-25, 21-25) Tuesday night at Lake Erie.
Sophomore Kelly Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) added 13 kills and seniors Taylor Foster (Ida, Mich.) and Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) had nine and eight kills, respectively.
In the first set, ODU took a 20-19 lead on a kill by Foster, but the Storm answered with a 5-1 run to go on top 24-21, and put it away with a kill to take the first set.
The Panthers jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the second set and led by as much as six on a pair of occasions before Lake Erie closed within 16-14. A Lake Erie error and a Thompson kill bumped the lead back to 18-14, and the lead never dipped below three the rest of the set.
The third set was tied 7-7 before Lake Erie scored the next seven points to take control, and ODU trailed throughout the fourth set before making a late push, closing within 22-21, but couldn't score again.
Sophomore Jordan Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) notched 46 assists, a career high, and senior Megan Hendershot (Galloway, Ohio) finished with 24 digs to pace the Panthers.
Ohio Dominican (8-15, 3-10 GLIAC) remains on the road to take on Tiffin at 7 p.m. Friday.
