COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-11) victory over Lake Superior State on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall.
The Panthers (5-10, 2-6 GLIAC) finished with a season-best hitting percentage of .306 in the match and committed a season-low eight errors in the contest. ODU also held Lake Superior State (1-17, 0-10 GLIAC) to just a .047 hitting percentage.
Senior Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) recorded 18 kills in the match and finished with a total of 54 kills for the weekend after recording 36 kills against Saginaw Valley on Friday night.
Freshman Bailey Line (Westerville, Ohio) led ODU in assists (36) and senior Taylor Foster (Ida, Michigan) led the Panthers in digs (13). Sophomore Kelly Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) led the Panthers in hitting percentage, finishing with a .444 hitting percentage on 18 total attacks in the match. Sophomore Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded 11 digs and senior Megan Hendershot (Galloway, Ohio) had 10 digs.
The Panthers used an 8-2 run to begin the first set, setting the tone early and using the advantage to take the set, 25-15.
In the second set, the Panthers and Lakers were tied 14-14 before a kill by Thompson on an assist by Line gave ODU a 15-14 advantage and sparked an 11-1 Panther run to end the set. ODU took the set by a score of 25-15 to go up 2-0 in the match.
Ohio Dominican once again jumped out to an early lead in the third set, beginning the game on a 9-2 run to create the momentum needed to win the set, 25-11, and take the match, 3-0.
ODU will compete in the Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Illinois on Friday and Saturday, with opponents and start times to be announced.
