Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – In an offensive-minded match, Ohio Dominican's volleyball team came up short against visiting Findlay, falling 3-0 (21-15, 15-25, 22-25) on Saturday afternoon in GLIAC play from Alumni Hall.
The Panthers hit .247 in the match, but the Oilers countered with a .376 attack percentage to improve to 17-7 (10-3 GLIAC). ODU fell to 8-14 (3-9 GLIAC).
Senior Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) hit .409 with 11 kills to lead ODU, and sophomore Kelly Nadler (Leipsic, Ohio) added eight kills on 18 swings. Senior Taylor Foster (Ida, Mich.) tallied seven kills and hit .429 and senior Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) finished with six kills.
ODU led 13-9 in the opening set after an ace by senior Megan Hendershot (Galloway, Ohio), but Findlay scored six straight after that to take a 15-13 lead. The Panthers drew within a point on a pair of occasions but never tied it up again as Findlay took the set by four.
After falling in the second set, ODU had a lead at the midway point of the third frame at 13-10 as Foster and sophomore Patricia Barreto (Findlay, Ohio) joined on a block. The Oilers scored the next five points, but the Panthers evened it up later at 19-19 on a kill by Thompson. Findlay scored the next three points, and though ODU closed within 23-22 on another Hendershot ace, the Oilers closed it with the last two points.
Sophomore Jordan Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) had 27 assists and Hendershot led the Panthers with 12 digs.
Ohio Dominican hits the road for a 7 p.m. match at Lake Erie on Tuesday.
