CANTON, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team drop a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference match on Friday afternoon at Malone, 2-1.

Trailing 1-0 as the first half neared its end, the Panthers were able to find the back of the net with a goal from freshman Michael Smigel (Avon, OH). Smigel recorded his first collegiate goal in the 42nd minute as his shot went off the post and then across the goal line.

The Pioneers (2-4-0, 2-2-0 GLIAC) would add a second goal midway through the second half to regain the lead at 2-1. ODU would muster just three shots after allowing the second goal, as MU would hold on for the win.

Freshman Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, OH) would pace ODU with three shots in the match. Junior Michael Fragoulis (Chios, Greece) also posted multiple shot attempts.

The Panthers (0-4-2, 0-3-1 GLIAC) would outshoot the Pioneers 16-13 for the match, but MU would hold a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal.

ODU will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, when they travel to Walsh.
