Box Score CANTON, Ohio – Four players had seven or more kills and Ohio Dominican's volleyball team had its most prolific offensive performance of the season, hitting .347 as the Panthers defeated host Malone 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-19).
ODU (6-4, 1-0 GLIAC) finished with 44 kills in the match against just 11 attack errors while limiting Malone (4-6, 0-1) to an .098 attack percentage with 23 kills and 15 errors. The Pioneers failed to record double figure kills in any set, while ODU notched 16 kills in each of the first two frames with 12 kills in the final set.
Junior Taylor Foster (Ida, Mich.) tied a career-high with 11 kills while swatting a career-best .600. Junior Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, Mich.) added nine kills against just one error, hitting .381, and sophomore Ciara Ralston (Findlay, Ohio) tallied nine kills and hit a career-best .471 as she also had just one error. Senior Tory Thompson (Quincy, Ohio) tallied seven kills with a .263 hitting percentage as well.
ODU started the first set on an 11-1 run and didn't slow down from there the rest of the match. The Panthers never trailed or were tied in any set and led by at least nine points in every set.
Senior Kelsey Fortney (Lorain, Ohio) had 23 assists and sophomore Ashlin Aiken (Onsted, Mich.) chipped in with a dozen helpers. Freshman Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the Panthers with 13 digs.
The .347 hitting percentage is the best for ODU since hitting .410 against Walsh on Sept. 13, 2014, when the Panthers had just five errors and 48 kills in 105 swings.
Ohio Dominican takes on Walsh at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in North Canton.
