Box Score BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team fell on the road Saturday afternoon, losing 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, and 27-25) to No. 4 Ferris State.
Junior Jackie Oestreich (Brighton, MI) paced the Panthers with 12 kills, posting a hitting percentage of .344. Oestreich has now recorded double digit kills in five of the last six matches.
Leading the team in assists for the second consecutive game was senior Darby Slavin (Columbus, OH), as she posted 19. Slavin hit .545 for the match, tallying a total of six kills, while also logging 10 digs.
Leading ODU in digs was freshman Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, OH), as she tallied a total of 16. Freshman Rebecca Skidmore (Westerville, OH) hit .200 in the match while also recording six kills.
With the first set tied 4-4, the Bulldogs (15-1, 7-0 GLIAC) would record eight consecutive points to take a 12-4 advantage. The Panthers would fall behind by as many as 13 points in the opening set.
The second set would stay tight early as the largest lead through the first 30 points would be three points by ODU. However, the Black and Gold would record just five of the final 14 points of the set, falling 25-19.
ODU would lead comfortably for most of the third set, leading by as many as five points late at 24-19. The Bulldogs would rally to score the next six points before the Panthers (7-9, 2-5 GLIAC) would tie the match at 25-25. FS then took the final two points of the set, capturing the 3-0 victory.
In the match, ODU would hit .141 while the Bulldogs would post a .309 hitting percentage.
The Panthers will be back on the court next Friday, October 9, when they head to GLIAC rival Northwood.
